"Family" isn't defined only by last name or by blood; its defined by commitment and by love. it means showing up when they need it most. It means having each other's backs. It means choosing to love each other even on those days when you struggle to like each other. It means never giving up on each other! -DaveWillis.org
Family. Everyone has one, or had one. Family is something magical and yet can be tragic. It's something that ebbs and flows and sometimes it can explode or even evaporate. As a photographer I have seen many different types of families. Big, small, mixed, stagnate, thriving, or just starting. At times I have seen just how close love is between people through my lens and then at times an untrusting glance between people...
One thing I have processed in my short time is how to love family where they are...there was a time I had to learn how to allow space for my family to be themselves, and in turn love on them selflessly and without expectation. Not ONE family is perfect my friends. We all have hardships, but when families band together, healing can happen and trust can be formed. And then the joy overflows.
These three families featured are very different...but they all love. Even if they love differently, they showed me just how each family is unique and special in their own way.

Family. What a blessing it is to be a part of one.
